Sen. Art Linares (left) on April 17 welcomed 13-year-old Colchester resident Owen Day (center) and area 4-H Club members to the State Capitol.

Owen is president of Belltown 4-H Club in Middlesex County, and club members visited the State Capitol as part of 4-H Citizenship Day. The topic of Citizenship Day this year was “Growing Local, Thinking Global”, and students displayed poster boards detailing their individual 4-H projects.

“It was a pleasure to meet with and talk to Owen,” Sen. Linares said. “4-H students are smart, conscientious and community-minded. These clubs make positive contributions to our towns, with a focus on science, health and citizenship. They also prepare young people like Owen to step up to the challenges in their community and the world.”

4-H is open to any youth who is at least 7 years and not 19 years of age on January 1st of the calendar year. For more information, visit www.4-h.org .
