Arbor Day Honors for Old Saybrook Student Artist

Old Saybrook Middle School student Alina Castro (left) was honored by Sen. Art Linares (right) and environmental advocates during an April 26 Arbor Day ceremony at the State Capitol. Alina has been named the Middlesex County Winner of the Connecticut Tree Protective Association’s Arbor Day Poster Contest. The contest required students from across Connecticut to submit artwork depicting their favorite tree. Alina, who is a student in Ms. Danielle Watts-St. Germain’s class, was honored during a tree planting event on the north side of the State Capitol lawn.
