Hartford – State Senator Kevin Witkos (R-8) and State Representatives Tim LeGeyt (R-17) and Brian Becker (D-19) welcomed members of the Avon Chamber of Commerce to the Legislative Office Building on Wednesday, March 6th.
“Avon businesses are the lifeline to our community,” said Senator Witkos. “From providing essential goods and services to supporting community and school groups, our businesses are an integral part of life in Avon and throughout the Farmington Valley. This session, I have supported legislation that would reduce the tax and regulatory burden in an effort to encourage greater economic development. Thank you for taking the time to come visit your State Capitol and making your important voice heard.”
Senator Witkos and Representatives LeGeyt and Becker met with the business owners as part of the 2013 Connecticut Business Day that was co-sponsored by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and Connecticut Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
“The Avon business community provides many services to the people of our district and our State. Small businesses are the engine that runs our economy. A strong economy depends on the health of our small businesses. That is why I support legislation that is pro-small business growth. It’s good for our businesses, and for the people of our district and our State,” said Rep. LeGeyt.
“I really appreciate and thank the members of the Avon Chamber of Commerce for the taking time out of their busy schedules to attend Business Day at the state capitol,” said Representative Becker. “Small business is a major economic driver in our state. During the last session, the legislature passed the Small Business Express Program designed to help small businesses expand their operations through state grants and low-interest loans. I encourage all members of the Avon Chamber of Commerce to learn more and small businesses to take advantage of the program.”
