With top-ranking police and fire officers at attention, State Senator Kevin Kelly presided. Mayor John Harkins named Town Council former Chairman Tom Malloy “Mayor for the Day.” Malloy offered an Irish blessing and invited all guests and dignitaries into the council chambers for coffee and soda bread.
Kelly and Malloy both selected Jamie Johnson’s soda bread as their favorite. A tie-breaking vote was not needed.
