Sen. Michael McLachlan and Sen. Minority Leader John McKinney will answer taxpayers’ questions during a 90-minute state budget forum April 8 at the Broadview Middle School Auditorium in Danbury.

The forum will run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is open to the public. The event is part of Sen. McKinney’s statewide “Fiscal Responsibility” tour.

The legislators will break down what the state budget does, the state’s deficits, its pension obligations and exactly what the new budget might mean for Connecticut.

Sen. McLachlan said the more people know, the more they can become involved in the process.

“We think it is more important than ever for the legislature and the governor to hear from the people of Connecticut,” Sen. McLachlan said. “Our goal is to find a way out of this fiscal crisis together. To get to that goal, we need to listen and learn. The answer is not higher taxes. Just two years ago, hardworking taxpayers were disproportionately burdened with the largest tax hike in our state’s history. We are fighting for fiscal responsibility in Hartford.”

The April 8 forum will include an extensive question and answer period for the general public.

“Please mark your calendars, spread the word and stop by on April 8,” Sen. McLachlan said. “The taxpayers need to be heard.”

The school is located at 72 Hospital Ave. in Danbury. Those who cannot attend may contact Sen. McLachlan at [email protected] or at 860 240-0068 .
