Senator Kelly, Shelton Legislators to hold Holiday Food Drive
December 10, 2012Shelton — State Senator Kevin Kelly and State Representatives Jason Perillo and Lawrence Miller will be hosting a food collection event to benefit local families.
The legislators will be collecting non-perishable food items outside the Beechwood Supermarket, 40 Huntington Street, Huntington, CT, from 10am-12pm on Saturday, December 15, 2012. All the collected food will be donated to the Spooner House.
“The holiday season is a time when we turn our focus toward those families who are in need of our help,” said Senator Kevin Kelly. “If you have the ability to make a donation, I encourage you to stop by with a non-perishable food item because it can make a real difference to a family in need. I wish you and your family all the best this holiday season!”
“I’m excited to participate in this food drive for those in need,” Rep. Miller said. “We are experiencing difficult financial times and everyone is affected in some way – some, much more than others. We should never forget we are all part of the same community.”
Rep. Perillo agreed, adding “With the winter weather settling in and the holidays upon us and families gathering together it’s important to remember those who are less fortunate. I’m delighted to volunteer my time for such a worthwhile cause. ”
