Sen. Michael McLachlan on Dec. 13 attended the Regional YMCA’s Youth and Government meeting at 293 Main Street, Danbury. Sen. McLachlan spoke to area students about the legislative process, and students shared their ideas on public policy issues. “It was a pleasure to speak with the students,” Sen. McLachlan said. “I urged them to stay in touch with me and to share their ideas with me via email, Facebook and Twitter. These young people have the potential to be future community leaders, and I want to help them stay as informed and as up to date as possible.” The Regional Y offers over 40 programs that help get young people off the street and offer community wide service opportunities. Over 19,000 people were touched in 2011 by a Regional Y initiative. Sen. McLachlan (www.senatormclachlan.com) can be reached at [email protected] and at 800 842 1421.
