Senator Kelly Receives AARP Award for Championing Community-Based Care
November 26, 2012Plantsville – State Senator Kevin C. Kelly (R-21) was formally presented with the 2012 Legislative Achievement Award from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) at the organization’s Volunteer & Partner Recognition Luncheon on Friday, November 16th.
“I am honored to receive this award from the AARP,” said Senator Kevin Kelly. “Connecticut families deserve to have every option available for community-based care, and I look forward to working tirelessly on this issue to make sure that our state continues to improve these services.”
Senator Kelly was honored with the award for championing a balanced long-term care system that honors individual dignity and choice.
“We commend you for protecting and improving home and community-based services and caregiver supports,” Connecticut AARP officials wrote to Senator Kelly on October 9th. “These programs provide residents options to live independently in the community. AARP also commends your commitment to legal and system supports for family caregivers.”
“As a member of the legislature’s Aging in Place Task Force, I look forward to working together on recommendations to put a plan in place to benefit both seniors and their families,” continued Senator Kelly.
