Power Restoration Update for Greenwich

November 2, 2012

I have been travelling throughout our District prior to and after the storm continuously to monitor power restoration efforts. Here is the latest: 50% of Greenwich remains without power. CL&P has assured me that as of 10 a.m. 32 crews were operating in Greenwich. At 2 p.m. they will be joined by 50 crews from Quebec Hydro and the Town is waiving the weight restrictions on its roads to allow necessary restoration to take place as quickly as possible. CL&P will add another 45 crews at 3 p.m.; so there will be 127 total crews operating in Greenwich today. Three strike teams continue to work with Greenwich tree crews to clear blocked roads and trapped residents. CL&P will then address critical health, safety and infrastructure priorities.

Please know that my first priority in responding to this storm is public safety and power restoration. But I am also deeply concerned about prolonged power outages in parts of our district and will seek a complete review of CL&P’s preparations for, and response to Storm Sandy and determine what improvements can be made and whether fines are warranted.

Please share this information with neighbors and please contact my office directly if we can assist you in any way.
