Hartford, CT – Senator Tony Gugliemo (R-Stafford) received a Public Safety Champion award for his outstanding leadership on issues affecting public safety in Connecticut. The award was presented to him by NexGen, a public safety software solutions company headquartered in Connecticut on Wednesday, September 26.

“I am honored to receive this award,” said Sen. Guglielmo. “One of the top priorities for state government is keeping people safe. I take that very seriously in my role as a legislator.”

“Sen. Guglielmo has been a longstanding member of the Public Safety Committee. In his role as Ranking Member, Sen. Guglielmo was a key supporter of legislation to finalize the implementation of the Connecticut Public Safety Data Network – a critical tool in protecting the safety of Connecticut citizens,” said Sal Annunziato, Managing Principal of NexGen.

NexGen utilizes the Connecticut Public Safety Data Network in providing software solutions to meet the public safety needs of state agencies and municipalities throughout Connecticut.

“This data network will allow public safety personnel to share important information with first responders in a fast reliable way,” said Sen. Guglielmo.

“The data network will strengthen Connecticut’s efforts to protect public safety by allowing all first responders to transmit digital information across a fiber optic IP based platform,” said Sal Annunziato, Managing Principal of NexGen.

Sen. Guglielmo was also instrumental in winning passage of legislation needed to upgrade and modernize Connecticut’s E-9-1-1 system, which is relied upon by citizens and businesses throughout the state.

The event was attended by state and local officials, chamber of commerce representatives and law enforcement personnel.
