Hartford, CT – On September 17,Senator Tony Guglielmo (R-Stafford) helped the cut the ribbon on the new combined 56 miles of the Willimantic River and Quinebaug River Water Trail designations as National Trails.

The celebration of the Quinebaug and Willimantic River Water Trails was capped off by a canoe ride.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced in June that 21 miles of the Willimantic River Water Trail received official designation, and the Quinebaug River Water Trail, already a National Recreation Trail, was expanded by 35 miles.
