Lt. Gov. and a host of local dignitaries commemorated the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America at an annual ceremony in Enfield Tuesday.

Wyman was the keynote speaker at the memorial tribute event, held in the 9/11 Memorial Garden in front of the Enfield Fire Station on Weymouth Road.

The lieutenant governor concludced her speech with a few sentences from a poem written by two students from Rockville High School:

We are the Twin Towers

Of the past – and present.

Towers of strength – towers of faith.

That can never be erased.

Other speakers included Mayor Scott Kaupin, Sen. John Kissel, Reps. Kathy Tallarita and David Kiner, and Maj. Evan Hunt of the Connecticut Air National Guard.

Representatives of Riley’s School of Dance, who began the commemorative ceremony a decade ago, placed a tribute wreath in front of the garden. The Quaboag Highlanders Pipes & Drum Corps performed “Amazing Grace” and “God Bless America,” while Dave O’Hagan sang a tune entitled “When Heroes Climbed the Sky,” written the night of the attacks.
