Sen. Welch: “Many of the politicians in Hartford have forgotten who they are representing.”
July 2, 2012To the editor,
I agree wholeheartedly with your June 22 editorial “Their Own Worst Enemy.” On the day of our June 12 special session at the State Capitol, legislators received 600 pages of bills that did not get brought up in the regular session. Within hours, we were expected to read the bills, digest them, and vote on them.
Many of the concepts in the bills – 40 of them, in fact – never received a public hearing. You never had a chance to weigh in. All of this is unfair to you, the taxpayers. That’s why I voted “no.” I took an oath to represent all of you to the very best of my ability. I think many of the politicians in Hartford have forgotten who they are representing.
