Avon – State Senator Kevin Witkos (R-8) and State Representative Tim LeGeyt (R-17) hosted a town hall meeting to provide a legislative update and answer questions from constituents at the Avon Town Hall Selectmen’s Chamber on Wednesday, May 23rd.

“This meeting was an excellent opportunity to meet with constituents to discuss their thoughts and concerns about legislation,” said Senator Kevin Witkos. “Over the past three months, the General Assembly voted on hundreds of bills, and I want to make sure that you can learn more about what passed and what did not.”

Senator Witkos and Representative LeGeyt joined constituents to discuss the 2012 legislative session, including the state budget, Sunday sales of alcohol, education reform, repeal of the death penalty and other issues.

“Beyond the budget adjustments made this session, we crafted a beginning to education reform and changed a number of policies including the sale and pricing of alcohol, capitol punishment, and election law,” said Representative Tim LeGeyt. “It is of the highest importance to communicate these upcoming changes and to make this information publically accessible and easy to understand.”

“If you could not make this meeting, I encourage you to reach out and share your thoughts with me,” continued Senator Witkos.
