Sen. McLachlan: Greater Danbury to Benefit from Passage of Hospice Care Bill
May 10, 2012State Sen. Michael McLachlan today applauded the Senate’s passage of a bill designed to update the decades-old regulations for residential hospice facilities.
The legislation now heads to the governor’s desk.
“Passage of this bill soldifies the business plan for the proposed new residential hospice facility in Danbury, which will serve western Connecticut residents,” Sen. McLachlan said. “With these new regulations in place, a modern facility will be built right here in Danbury which will provide best care practices and meet a vital need in our region. Our entire Danbury legislative delegation deserves tremendous credit for guiding this bill through the legislative process. This is excellent news for greater Danbury and I am pleased the bill received overwhelming bipartisan support.”
Construction of 12-bed residential hospice facility on the city’s west side begins later this year. The new center will be one of only a handful that are available in the state for end-of-life in-patient hospice care.
