May 22, 2012

At a May 22 ceremony at the State Capitol, John F. Kennedy Middle School seventh grade students Elissia Peralta (left) and Cheyenne Ellis (right) were honored by State Sen. John A. Kissel (center) for their Presidential Speeches on energy efficiency in the 2012 eesmarts contest.

The contest requests that students answer grade-level specific prompts regarding efficient and renewable energy technologies in the form of a poster, limerick, news article, song lyrics, essay, speech, report, play or TV script and an open letter format.

“We are so proud of Elissia and Cheyenne,” Sen. Kissel said. “They showcased their knowledge about saving energy, efficient and renewable energy technologies, and sustainability. It was great to see their creativity and innovation recognized today.”

The ceremony was organized by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund in partnership with The Connecticut Light & Power Company and The United Illuminating Company.
