Stamford – State Senator L. Scott Frantz (R-36) and State Representative Livvy R. Floren (R-149) joined business and community leaders at the 13th Annual Legislative Luncheon hosted by the Stamford Chamber of Commerce at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel on Monday, April 23rd.

“I thank the Stamford Chamber of Commerce for hosting this important meeting on how legislation affects the business community in our state,” said State Senator L. Scott Frantz. “This incredible organization is one of the fastest growing business groups in the northeast, and legislators must understand how our proposals impact future economic growth and job creation.”

The forum discussed this year’s legislative session and its impact on the Connecticut business community. It focused on the three main themes of Governor Malloy’s State of the State address including fiscal responsibility, encouraging business growth, and education reform. It also noted how these priorities have shifted over the course of the session.

“I always look forward to meeting with Stamford business representatives,” said State Rep. Livvy R. Floren. “The give-and-take discussion is stimulating and helps the delegation craft legislation to make Connecticut more open and more friendly for business.”

The event was an important opportunity for business leaders to hear directly from legislators about this fiscal year’s deficit and continued unfunded liabilities that are of concern to the general business community.

The Stamford Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in southwestern Connecticut, representing more than 1,600 businesses. Its mission is “to represent, strengthen and unify Stamford business community efforts to provide the best environment in which to work and live.” For more information, please visit their website at www.stamfordchamber.com.
