Extended Hours at Bristol Transfer Station to Collect Sand, Silt and Sediment
September 14, 2011The Bristol Transfer Station will be open from 7:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Friday, September 16. On Saturday, Sept. 17 the station will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sand, silt and sediment from local residential and business property in storm affected areas may be brought to the transfer station by those with valid residential permits.
Transfer station permits are available at City Hall (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) A driver’s license and cash or check for $25 is required.
Residents should not discard any of these materials in rubbish, yard waste or recycle barrels.
In order to ensure that city storm water drainage systems function as needed, public works also asks that the materials not be dumped or swept into storm water catch basins.
The city will continue to sweep the streets in the affected areas.
Small amounts of sand, silt and sediment may be moved to the edge of the roadway and it will be picked up with the street sweeper.
Those who sweep material to the curb should notify Public Works at (860) 584-6125 to ensure that street sweepers are assigned to collect the debris.
To ensure the drainage system is not blocked, large amounts of material must be brought to the transfer station.
