Closure of Pine Street in Bristol Scheduled For Monday, April 11, 2011

The Department of Transportation announced today that Pine Street in Bristol, between Birch Street and Todd Street, is scheduled to be closed from April 11 to April 29, 2011.

The section of Pine Street, between Birch Street and Todd Street, will remain open for local traffic only. Eastbound traffic on Pine Street will detoured along the new portion of Route 72 to Central Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured on Birch Street, Redstone Hill Road and Emmett Street.

This road closure is being implemented to facilitate the relocation of the last section of Pine Street as part of the ongoing Route 72 Relocation project in Bristol and Plainville.

This $40 million project is being performed by Manafort Brothers, Inc. of Plainville, Connecticut under contract with the Department of Transportation. The anticipated completion date for this project is in June 2011.
