State Senator Kevin Kelly Sworn In As New State Senator For 21st District

Hartford – State Senator Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) was sworn into office Wednesday, January 5th at the opening of the 2011 Legislative Session. Senator Kelly begins his first term serving as state senator of the 21st district, which includes the towns of Monroe, Seymour, Shelton and Stratford.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve our great state,” said Senator Kelly. “Public service is a great privilege which provides avenues to adopt policies to better Connecticut, and also work with constituents and hear what is most important to their families and businesses.”
Senate Minority Leader John McKinney (R-Fairfield) appointed Senator Kelly to serve as Ranking Member on both the General Assembly’s Aging Committee and Insurance and Real Estate Committee. He will also serve as a member on the Commerce and Regulations Review committees.
“I look forward to serving on each of these committees,” said Senator Kelly. “I am committed to seeking out solutions to meet the growing economic challenges facing our state. In the coming months I will work closely with my new legislative colleagues to make the difficult, but necessary decisions which will make Connecticut solvent and protect our quality of life for generations to come.”
Senator Kelly is an active member of his community with years of experience and knowledge to bring to the state senate. He is a longtime board member of the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging, Inc., and formerly was Commissioner of the Stratford Inland Wetland and Watercourse Commission, Stratford Aging Commission, Stratford Tourism Commission, Hill & Harbor Visitor’s Bureau and the Stratford Community Development Agency. Senator Kelly is currently an owner and Partner in the law firm of Bishop, Jackson & Kelly, LLC.
Senator Kelly resides in Stratford with his wife Cindy and their children.
