State Senator John A. Kissel Honored for Contributions to Woodcrest Elderly Housing Complex Kissel: New Facility is a “Beautiful Gem!”

contributions to the new Woodcrest elderly housing
complex in Somers, CT.

Somers, CT – On October 22nd an official dedication
ceremony marked the completion of phase 1 of the new
Woodcrest elderly housing expansion in Somers, CT.  The
$18 million expansion includes a new 86-unit apartment
complex, which replaces the original structure which
had fallen into disrepair.

During the ceremony, the Somers Housing Authority presented
State Senator John A. Kissel with a plaque in recognition
of his contributions to the project, including helping
to successfully secure state funding.

“I am so pleased to have worked in a collaborative
way with local, state and federal officials, as well
as area residents and local businesses to see this project
through,” said Senator Kissel.
 “This was truly a community-wide effort
and accomplishment to provide a beautiful, affordable
option for elderly citizens in our region. I remember
the before and look at where we are now. We have a gem,
a beautiful gem.”  

The second phase of the Woodcrest elderly housing project
will add 60 more housing units for a total of 146 apartments.
