Hartford, CT- State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) yesterday introduced the Class M state basketball champions on the floor of the senate. Eight seeded Sheehan High School from Wallingford beat three seeded Bloomfield High School, Saturday, March 20th, to become the state champions.

“These young men did a great job,” said Sen. Fasano. “This was Sheehan High’s first time in the championship game since 1994 and the very first time they have been champions. They came in the underdog, but since the opening minutes of the game played like a number one team. These young men are incredibly athletic and had an opportunity to shine under great coaching. Congratulations to them for all their hard work and I look forward to seeing this basketball program continue to succeed.”

Member of the team, coaches, and school officials were at the capitol to meet with Sen. Fasano. Members of the team include: Phil Gaetano- Captain, Brett Biestek- Captain, Johnathan Songer, Christian Collette, Mason Bush, John Wodatch, AJ Pascuzzo, Kyle Buntin, Justin MacDonald, Sean Brennan, Garry Lancaster, Colin Roberts, Tim Velez, Nick Parillo, Mike Vallone, Graham Kelley, Dan Duffy, Brian Murphy, Jeff Biestk, Nolan Bath, Matt Daniels, Anthony DeSantis, Mike Hewitt, and Jake Lutzen. Team coaches are: Joe Gaetano, John Janeway, and Chris Dailey. Also in attendance were: Superintendent Salvatore Menzo, Principal Rosemary Duthie, and Athletic Director VJ Sarullo.
