Greenwich Delegation to Host Legislative Breakfast Friday, March 5th:
February 17, 2010“Helping Connecticut Businesses Thrive and Create Jobs in a Challenging Economy”
Senator L. Scott Frantz (R-36), Representative Fred Camillo (R-151), Representative Livvy Floren (R- 149), Representative Lile Gibbons (R-150) and members of the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce will host a legislative breakfast Friday, March 5th to discuss Connecticut’s business climate. The event is open to the public.
The public forum will focus on the challenges facing Connecticut’s businesses and various legislative initiatives aimed at improving Connecticut’s economy for workers and employers alike. After brief presentations, participants will have the opportunity to share their opinions and ask questions of the Greenwich delegation.
Among the topics of discussion will be legislation sponsored by Senator Frantz and his Republican colleagues which would expand job creation tax credits; repeal the 10% corporate tax surcharge; repeal the business entity tax; eliminate outdated, redundant and counterproductive state business regulations; and provide tax incentives to emerging and next generation industries including alternative fuel, environmental remediation and nanotechnology – industries with the potential to provide good paying jobs to thousands of Connecticut workers at all levels of skill, experience and education. The legislation aims to improve the business climate in Connecticut by helping to capitalize on one of its greatest strengths – a highly skilled and educated workforce.
“The purpose of this forum is to garner public feedback about steps the legislature can take during the 2010 Session to help businesses thrive and create jobs in today’s challenging economy. The future of our state’s economy depends on the legislature’s ability and willingness to be a partner to Connecticut’s businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Sen. Frantz.
The Legislative Breakfast is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Friday, March 5th at the Greenwich Water Club, 49 River Road, Cos Cob. For more information, please contact Kate Ruppar at [email protected] or 1-800-842-1421, or John Dooley at [email protected] or 1-800-842-1423.
