Senator McKinney’s Statement Re: Governor Rell’s Decision Not to Seek Reelection

State Senate Minority Leader John McKinney (R-Fairfield):

“I am disappointed to learn that Governor Rell will not seek reelection, because I believe the state of Connecticut needs the kind of independent leadership she has provided since taking office. Governor Rell has led Connecticut through some of its most difficult times and will continue to make the best decisions for our state as we work to close our budget deficit in the weeks and months ahead.

“However, I understand her reasons for making this decision and wish her continued success and happiness in all of her personal endeavors.”
