Senator Boucher Encourages Constituents To Participate In Governor M. Jodi Rell’s Connecticut Day Of Caring & Compassion

Westport Fire Station To Collect Non-Perishable Food Items On November 7th

State Senator Toni Boucher (R-26) is urging area residents to join her in participating in Governor M. Jodi Rell’s one-day push to fully stock the state’s local pantries, Foodshare, and the Connecticut Food Bank on Saturday, November 7th.

“We are encouraging those who are able to do so to drop off nonperishable food items at one of many participating fire stations across the state, including the Westport Fire Station. As Governor Rell said, the number of people depending on food pantries has increased by 30% since last year. This is an opportunity for those who can afford to contribute to provide food for those who really need our help,” said Senator Boucher.

Senator Boucher stressed that participating fire stations will collect only non-perishable food items – not cash or non-food items – on November 7th.

The Westport Fire Station located at 515 Post Road East, and many other fire stations across the state, will accept donations of non-perishable food from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th as part of Governor Rell’s Connecticut Day of Caring & Compassion.

Senator Boucher suggested that area residents who are traveling on November 7th consider dropping off their donations of non-perishable food items at one of the many other participating fire stations located in communities across the state.
