Sen. Kissel Appointed to Serve on Cox Charities Advisory Board
April 28, 2009Sen. John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) has recently been appointed to serve as a member on the Cox Charities New England Advisory Board.
Cox Charities New England is a charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications and annually awards area non-profit organizations with grants to support initiatives that benefit the education and development of youth. The organization’s advisory board is comprised of local business, community and civic leaders who assist in directing funds to local non-profits.
Sen. Kissel, who has been a strong supporter of early childhood education programs, said he is excited about being part of such a worthwhile initiative.
“I am looking forward to serving on the Cox Charities Board,” said Sen. Kissel. “They have a long history of reaching out to the community and I have seen first hand the impact these grants have on local organizations. Earlier this month, I had the privilege of attending the Cox Charities Award ceremony and I was happy to assist them in their mission of supporting education and youth development.”
In 2009, Cox Charities will donate approximately $1.1 million in the form of grants and in-kind support to selected area non-profit organizations in Connecticut and Rhode Island that provide after-school programs for children.
