Senator Kane Applauds State Funding For Building Improvements At Southbury Training School
June 2, 2008Senator Rob Kane (R-32) applauded the State Bond Commission’s authorization of funds to upgrade the fire alarm system in some residential buildings and replace windows in a residential building at Southbury Training School.
The State Bond Commission at its May 30th meeting approved $200,000 to upgrade the fire alarm system at 10 residential buildings and an additional $55,000 to replace windows at Cottage 18, also a residential building.
“Southbury Training School is home to approximately 500 residents, and the state has an obligation to ensure that their homes are safe and comfortable. I want to thank Governor Rell for supporting these necessary capital improvements,” said Senator Kane, whose district includes Southbury.
Southbury Training School is comprised of approximately 70 buildings, most of them residential. Replacing the fire alarms is an ongoing project. This most recent authorization is intended to fund the second phase.
