Long Island Sound LNG Task Force To Hold January 11th Informational Hearing At East Haven High School

Senator Len Fasano, R-North Haven, is urging his constituents to attend an informational hearing regarding the proposed installation of a liquefied natural gas facility in Long Island Sound at 7 p.m., January 11th at East Haven High School.

Senator Fasano, co-chair of the Long Island Sound LNG Task Force, said the task force decided to hold the local informational hearing due to the interest shown by area residents.

“This is an issue that people genuinely care about. A day does not go by without my office getting at least a couple of calls from local residents seeking information or expressing their concern. Our task force is charged with ensuring that Connecticut’s voice is heard, and our interests protected, during this process. One very important way to do that is to make sure that everyone who is interested, everyone who has a stake in what happens, has the opportunity to speak and to ask questions. I am hoping for a good turn-out,” said Senator Fasano.

Senator Fasano is joined by East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. in urging area residents to attend the upcoming informational hearing.

“It (the hearing) will give an opportunity for both the public and elected officials to become better educated on this very important project. While there was a previous forum held in East Haven, due to the inquires made at our offices both Senator Fasano and I felt it was important to get our citizens up to speed on this project. This especially in light of the fact that the Coast Guard report was issued after we last met. Although the Town of East Haven residents and elected officials do not have official control of the Broadwater project, the more information and discussion that takes place will allow us to form much more knowledgeable opinions,” said Mayor Maturo.
