Senator Fasano to Speak at LNG Conference in Boston, MA

December 1, 2006

State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) will be a featured speaker next week at a two-day conference held in Boston, MA focusing on the increased demand for natural gas and how some states are exploring liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports to meet this demand. The Conference, entitled LNG Development in the Northeast, will be held at the Hilton Boston Back Bay Hotel on Monday and Tuesday, December 4th and 5th. Senator Fasano will speak on Tuesday morning at 8:45 AM during the New England State Regulatory Perspectives on LNG portion of the program.

“I am certainly looking forward to the conference next week, which will provide me a fantastic opportunity to share ideas with LNG experts and, more importantly, talk about the very serious energy cost and demand issues facing not only the Northeast, but the whole country,” said Senator Fasano who is the Chairman of the Long Island Sound LNG Task Force. “That states are exploring LNG facilities so seriously, despite the very real environmental and safety risks that they bring, only underscore the fact that we are in need of a national energy policy. Next week will provide a great forum for experts in all areas of energy policy to discuss potential solutions to this growing need.”

Included among the other speakers during the two-day conference will be William S. Cooper III, the Executive Director of the Center for Liquefied Natural Gas in Washington DC and Jeff Wright of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Attorneys, state, local and tribal government officials and staff, managers and technical staff from the gas industry are all encouraged to attend.

Senator Fasano recently was elected to his third term representing the 34th District communities of East Haven, North Haven, and Wallingford. Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell named him Chairman of the LNG Task Force in the summer of 2005 through Executive Order #9.
