Senator Now Looking to Bring Governor’s Pre-K Listening Tour to Enfield

State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) was among a select number of officials that attended the second annual Pre-K Now National Satellite Conference on Wednesday September 20th in the CPTV conference room at 1049 Asylum Avenue in Hartford. This conference was hosted by George Stephanopoulous of ABC News and featured live interviews from Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell and Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen. Members of Governor M. Jodi Rell’s Pre-K cabinet were also in attendance and Senator Kissel has begun looking into bringing the cabinet’s current listening tour to Enfield.

“It was my pleasure to attend this conference and listen to a variety of knowledgeable officials present their views on this very important topic. Pre-K Now and its staff did a wonderful job organizing this national event as well as continuing to advocate on behalf of high-quality, voluntary pre-kindergarten programs.” said Senator Kissel. “It is critically important that children in Connecticut and across the nation enter kindergarten properly prepared to learn and interact with their peers.”

“In addition, it was brought to my attention at this event that Governor Rell’s Pre-K cabinet is conducting a listening tour across Connecticut that seeks input into how to expand the availability of Pre-K in our State,” explained Senator Kissel. “I am currently working with state and local officials to bring this tour to Enfield so citizens in North Central Connecticut can have the opportunity to express their ideas on how best to make Pre-K available to children in our area of the State.”

Senator Kissel is a Deputy Minority Leader and represents the 7th District Communities of East Granby, Enfield, Granby, Somers, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.
