June 14, 2006It has been announced that State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) will receive the Leon RisCassi-Theodore Koskoff Civil Justice Award given by the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA). The CTLA President, Ernest F. Teitell, will present Senator Kissel with the award at the Association’s Annual Meeting, held this year at the Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook, CT on Monday, June 19th.
Senator Kissel is only the 14th individual to receive the RisCassi-Koskoff award since 1986, a distinguished list that includes former Connecticut Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Robert I. Berdon. Recipients are selected for their work promoting civil justice throughout Connecticut.
“I would like to thank Mr. Teitell and the entire Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association for this award. It is truly an honor to be among those past recipients who contributed so much to our State,” said Senator Kissel, who is the Ranking Senator on the General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee. “The Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association is comprised of many talented professionals who offer balanced legal perspectives on a wide array of civil justice issues and I feel privileged to be recognized by such a great organization.”
The CTLA is a non-profit professional association dedicated to creating and maintaining a more just society by preserving individual rights within the Civil Justice System. Its Board of Governors, Officers, Committee Chairpersons, Staff, and Members serve as a resource for accurate, verifiable information and statistics on various legal issues including jury awards and settlements, litigation frequency and profiles, and liability associated with unsafe products.
Senator Kissel is a Deputy Minority Leader and is serving his seventh term representing the seventh district communities of East Granby, Enfield, Granby, Somers, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.
