June 15, 2006

State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) will join several state and local officials at the Secretary of the State’s sixth annual Public Service Awards Ceremony this Friday, June 16th at 1 p.m. in the Old Judiciary Room at the State Capitol. Connecticut Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz will host the event, which this year honors career firefighters throughout the State of Connecticut with twenty or more years of service to their respective towns.

Friday’s ceremony, which is one of several being held this year, will honor over 60 awardees from the towns within Congressional District #2. Nine firefighters from Senator Kissel’s State Senatorial District, six from the Thompsonville Fire Department in Enfield and three from the Suffield Fire Department, will be recognized on Friday.

“I would like to congratulate all the firefighters being honored at this event, and give special recognition to those from my district in North Central Connecticut,” said Senator Kissel. “Firefighters put their lives on the line to help their fellow citizens and their bravery should be commended. I am glad the State is recognizing those who have dedicated their careers to serving their communities.”

“I would also like to thank Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz for organizing this great annual event and for inviting me to be a part of it,” added Senator Kissel.

The firefighters from Enfield being honored are: Francis Alaimo, Paul Censki, Patrick Furey, Michael Mills, Paul Nabors, Keith Pliszka, and Carl Trippodo. The Suffield awardees are Thomas Bellmore, George Hastings, and Thomas Romano.

Senator Kissel is serving his seventh term representing the seventh district, which is comprised of East Granby, Enfield, Granby, Somers, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.
