June 1, 2006

State Senator Len Fasano (R-34th) and State Representative Mary Fritz (D-90th) are pleased to announce that Wallingford will be received a $500,000 state grant to help acquire the property needed for the construction of a new fire station in town. Governor M. Jodi Rell, who serves as Chairman of the State Bond Commission, has informed Senator Fasano and Representative Fritz that the funding will be officially released when the Bond Commission convenes their monthly meeting on Friday June 9th.

“I am so pleased that Governor Rell has approved this funding and I would like to thank her for her efforts. The Town of Wallingford has an extremely strong sense of community spirit which is exemplified in its support for its volunteer fire department. These men and women are heroes of the community and I am happy that we are on our way towards providing them with a brand new facility.”

Rep. Fritz said, “This is something Senator Fasano and I have worked on because the need has grown. We are so happy to bring this money home.”

Senator Fasano is serving his second term representing the towns of East Haven, North Haven, and Wallingford. Representative Fritz is in her 11th term serving the communities of Cheshire and Wallingford.
