Senator Fasano and Representative Fontana Help Secure $600,000 for North Haven

June 6, 2006

State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) and Representative Steven Fontana (D-North Haven) are pleased to announce that the State Bond Commission is scheduled to approved $600,000 in state grants for the town of North Haven. The funding is broken down into grants of $500,000 and $100,000 and will be used to reconstruct drainage systems in and around Todd Drive, Todd Drive South, and Pine Brook in North Haven. The area has been heavily damaged by flooding over the past several months. Senator Fasano and Rep. Fontana have worked hard to secure this money for North Haven.

“This is a significant amount of state funding that will help reconstruct the drainage systems in the area, repair damage incurred by the flooding, and make the area less susceptible to flooding in the future,” said Senator Fasano. “There is quite a bit of repair that needs to be done including new pipelines and culverts and these sizable state grants will help cover many of the costs. Those homeowners near the damaged areas deserve to know that the state is doing its part to protect their investments.”

“I would like to thank both Governor Rell, who placed the item on the bonding agenda, and Representative Fontana for their bi-partisan effort in securing these grants for the people of North Haven,” added Senator Fasano.

“I’m pleased to have helped to secure this state funding, particularly as it addresses the needs that Todd Drive residents have shared with me,” Fontana said. “Having met with them over the past several months, I’ve learned a great deal about the issues that they face. This funding represents a significant first step toward improving their neighborhood.”

Senator Fasano represents the 34th district, which is comprised of North Haven, East Haven, and Wallingford. Representative Fontana is in his fifth term serving the 87th district.
