Senator Kissel Responds to Attacks at Suffield Prison
May 22, 2006State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) expressed his continued support for all corrections officers in light of the attack on two prison guards by two inmates last night at MacDougal Walker Correctional Institute in Suffield. Senator Kissel’s district hosts six of the state’s correctional facilities, including MacDougal Walker, more than any other district in the state. The facility remains in lock down today in light of the attack, which took place at 9:30 PM last night.
“Clearly, a violent incident such as the one that occurred last night only underscores the dangers correctional officers face each and every day. These officers put their well-being on the line each day to serve our state and deserve our full support,” said Senator Kissel.
Senator Kissel is a Deputy Minority Leader. He represents East Granby, Enfield, Granby, Somers, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks and is also the Ranking Senator on the Judiciary Committee which oversees all matters regarding the Department of Correction.
