Senator Fasano Helps Pass Antique Vehicle Legislation

June 17, 2005

State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) is pleased to announce that an amendment he proposed to lower the threshold for Connecticut cars to qualify as antiques has become law. As part of Public Act 05-218 cars at least 20 years old can now be classified as antique, rare, or special interest. The language was added onto state Senate Bill 1116, which made a variety of changes to the state’s Motor Vehicle Statutes.

“Local tax assessor’s and Blue Book estimates had already considered 20 year old cars antiques. This amendment brings Connecticut’s statutes, which previously has stated only cars 25 years or older were antiques, in line with them,” said Senator Fasano. “I would like to thank East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo for bringing this matter to my attention.”
Senator Fasano is serving his second term representing East Haven, North Haven, and Wallingford.
