Senator Kissel Appointed to National Position

State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) has been appointed a member of the Human Services and Welfare Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) for the 2005 and 2006 years by Senate President Pro Tempore Donald Williams, Jr. The NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories.

“I am excited to be appointed to this position and to have the opportunity to work and share ideas with legislators from across the country,” said Senator Kissel, who serves as the Ranking Member on the Connecticut General Assembly’s Human Services Committee. “It will be an honor to serve on this committee and I would like to thank Senator Williams for appointing me.”

The NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. Its Human Services and Welfare Committee has jurisdiction over the organization’s state and federal work in four major categories: social services, income security, food and nutrition, and immigration. The Committee also works with states on engaging faith-based organizations and proposals supporting healthy marriages.

Senator Kissel is a Deputy Minority Leader and represents the 7 th district communities of East Granby, Enfield, Granby, Windsor, Somers, Suffield, and Windsor Locks.
