Senator Fasano Recognizes Local North Haven Hero
February 2, 2005State Senator Len Fasano (R-East Haven) this morning presented North Haven resident Janet Parkosewich with a Hero of New Haven County award at an event held at the Omni Hotel in downtown New Haven. Ms. Parkosewich was recognized for her outstanding work as a volunteer and advocate with the New Haven Animal Shelter
“Ms. Parkosewich really is a remarkable individual and it was my honor to present her with this award today. Her dedication and efforts fostering animals in our community is tremendous. Plus, she also works full-time as a cardiovascular nurse specialist at Yale New Haven Hospital and is a fourth year doctoral student working on her dissertation for her Ph.D,” said Senator Fasano. “Janet has saved many animals from death, nursing them back to health, many times out of her own pocket, and finding them loving, caring, homes . . . sometimes even her own. She is indeed a special woman and most deserving of this recognition.”
Ms. Parkosewich is a co-director of the Women’s Heart Advantage program at Yale-New Haven. She has volunteered with Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter for the past six years.
Senator Fasano is the Ranking Member of the General Assembly’s Planning and Development Committee and Committee on Veteran’s Affairs. He also serves on the budget-writing Appropriations Committee, the General Law Committee, and the Program Review and Investigations Committee.
