Senator Guglielmo Named to State Student Loan Board

January 7, 2005

State Senator Tony Guglielmo, R-Stafford, has been appointed to the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation (CSLF), Board of Directors by Senate Minority Leader Louis C. DeLuca (R-Woodbury). The CSLF is a Connecticut State-chartered, nonprofit corporation that administers student loan programs by originating, guaranteeing, financing, and servicing loans within the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and other resources to eligible students and their families.

“I am very thankful to Sen. DeLuca for appointing me to the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation,” said Sen. Guglielmo. “Student loans are the means to educational opportunities for so many people in Connecticut and throughout the country. It is my hope that as a member of this board I can contribute in a way that makes student loans more accessible. I believe it is important also to inform those who are thinking about post secondary education that there is assistance available to them.”

The purpose of the CSLF has been to improve the educational opportunities of persons who are attending or plan to attend post-secondary educational institutions in the State of Connecticut or elsewhere. The board consists of 13 members appointed by the Governor and legislative leaders. Senator Guglielmo’s term will run through January of 2007.
