Senator John A. Kissel, R-Enfield, will participate in Governor M. Jodi Rell’s Operation E.L.F (Embracing Lonely Families) at the Enfield Armory on Monday, December 13 th .
Senator Kissel will join Governor Rell at the Armory at 1635 King Street at 2 p.m. where she will accept donations, including new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages.
Besides toys, donations of grocery cards, phone cards, fuel oil, Christmas trees and snow removal services are also welcome. Financial contributions may also be made to the Connecticut National Guard Foundation, Inc.
Governor Rell established Operation E.L.F. in 2003, when she was the Lieutenant Governor, to support military families separated during the holiday season due to deployment.
“I am delighted that Governor Rell invited me to join her in helping to show our support for Connecticut’s military families in such a meaningful way. As a husband and a father, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be separated from loved ones, especially during the holiday season. These brave families need and deserve to know that we value their sacrifice. I applaud Governor Rell for having created Operation E.L.F. both as a way to help military families and as a way for Connecticut residents to meaningfully show their support for our military families,” said Senator Kissel.
