Senator Guglielmo Announces Funding for Coventry Sewer System

May 29, 2003

State Senator Tony Guglielmo, R-Stafford, today announced that the State Bond Commission is expected to approve funding the amount of $4,686,538 to the Town of Coventry for the expansion of the town’s sewer system to include the area around Coventry Lake. According to Sen. Guglielmo, the expansion is necessary due to the failure of current septic systems in the Coventry Lake area.

“It’s been a long time coming so this is certainly good news for the residents of Coventry,” said Sen. Guglielmo. “The urgency to begin a project like this is heightened anytime you are dealing with a potential environmental hazard. With this funding the next step can now begin.”

According to Sen. Guglielmo the expansion will be limited to existing developed lots. “For the Bond Commission to release the funding at this time shows just how important this project really is.”

The State Bond Commission’s monthly meeting will be held tomorrow, May 30th, at 10:30 a.m., at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
