Sen. Kissel Features Suffield Regional Agriscience Center Students on “Senator Kissel & Friends”

April 22, 2003

Senator John A. Kissel, R-Enfield, interviews teenagers attending the Suffield Regional Agriscience Center about their experiences as high school students preparing for possible careers in agriculture on the next “Senator Kissel & Friends”.

“Senator Kissel & Friends” is shown on Cox Cable Channel 15 on Mondays at 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Guests on the show include Suffield Regional Agriscience Center students Sarah Griffin, Vicky Christian, Jesse Soloshun, Michele Longhi and Kellie Sobinski.

The Suffield Regional Agriscience Center, part of Suffield High School, trains ninth through twelve grade students for direct employment or further education at two and four year colleges. The program combines a regular academic high school program with career exploration, skill development and leadership training. A big part of the program is involvement in FFA, a national youth organization whose members prepare for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. The local chapter will hold its annual Spring Plant Sale in May.

“These students are so lucky to have strong career interests – and the opportunity to pursue them – at such a young age. I am impressed by their commitment, their knowledge and their passion. This is the time of year when younger teenagers start exploring their options for high school. Young people who think they might want a career in the agricultural field, and their families, will find this show very interesting and informative. I know I learned a lot from speaking with these exceptional students,” said Senator Kissel.
