The Department of Public Utility Control's Hidden Tax
The limited government part has lead me to take on an Energy issue no one really saw coming. I filed a lawsuit against the department of Public Utility Control for what I call an unfair tax grab. There is a surcharge attached to everyone’s monthly electric bill.
The DPUC is not a taxing authority. This idea that some not all residents in Connecticut should pay a surcharge on their utility bill and then the government can use the money as it sees fit is not right. It sets up a very slippery slope. My case was thrown out on a technicality by a lower court but the fight will continue as I have a case pending before the State Supreme Court. Stay tuned.
