Sen. Fasano Statement on Gov. Malloy’s Political Priorities

While CT Bridges Decay, “Pork Has Been Flying Out The Door”

Senate Republican President Pro Tempore Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement in reaction to a Washington-based transportation group’s report that Connecticut has 308 “structurally deficient” bridges.

“Good governing is about setting priorities. Gov. Malloy’s political priorities have been on full public display in the items he has been placing on the State Bond Commission’s agenda.  While our bridges and infrastructure decay, Gov. Malloy has been maxing out the state’s credit card to pay for a splash pad, little league fields, handball courts, a grocery store and a $10 million tolls study.  The pork has been flying out the door.  Gov. Malloy’s poor choices show why we need to take our state in a new direction. Those misguided decisions show why Connecticut is in trouble.  Gov. Malloy complains about infrastructure.  He says we need to implement tolls throughout the state because we need critical infrastructure improvements. Then he shows his true priorities by championing irresponsible bonding for his political favorites. The good news for state taxpayers is that Gov. Malloy will only preside over one more bond commission meeting before he leaves office.”
