Senator Miner Applauds Senate Passage of Regional Shelter Bill

May 4, 2018

Hartford—State Senator Craig Miner applauded the senate passage of Raised Bill 349 An Act Concerning Regional Animal Shelters. The bill would allow more towns to pool resources to build shared animal shelters with other contiguous municipalities. Specifically, this bill would allow Torrington, Litchfield, Goshen and other communities in the Northwest Hills to use one animal shelter rather than go through the unnecessary expense of building one in each town.

“This bill was a priority for the towns in my district,” said Senator Miner. “It allows our communities to be frugal and pool resources for a regional animal shelter. These towns do a much better job managing their money than the state. Sometimes they need a small change in statue to allow them to find even more efficiencies.”
