New State Budget Means No Fare Hikes, Service Reductions

May 17, 2018

Another VICTORY for Connecticut commuters!

First we defeated tolls. Now, as a result of the newly-passed bipartisan budget, the bus and train fare increases and service reductions scheduled for July 1st have been CANCELED. And we did it without tax increases!

As the Co-Chair of the Transportation Committee I am proud that I was able to work with my colleagues in the House and Senate to restore funding to the Special Transportation Fund without placing further burdens on taxpayers and commuters. In fact, the budget results in fund surpluses in each of the next five years. This allows us to maintain current services AND invest in infrastructure.

This is good news for Connecticut!
