Gold Star Bridge Updates in Time for Holiday Weekend

May 23, 2018

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced the following updates for the Gold Star Bridge expected to be ready in time for the holiday weekend.

The DOT issued a press release announcing that the number of lanes across the Gold Star Bridge will increase from 3 to 4 lanes and the Bridge Street on-ramp is to be re-opened on I-95 southbound at the Gold Star Bridge on Friday, May 25, 2018.

Nighttime lane closures will begin immediately to shift temporary concrete barrier curbs and reconfigure roadway pavement markings.

More info from DOT:

The four I-95 southbound travel lanes shall remain on the south side of the bridge.  The State Route 184 (Gold Star Highway) on-ramp will begin as a dedicated lane and continue as the leftmost through lane on I-95.  The added rightmost lane will begin as a dedicated lane for the Bridge Street on-ramp and shall remain as a dedicated exit lane at Exit 84 to Route 32 and Downtown New London.  The roadway pavement markings will be reconfigured to delineate 4 lanes of traffic across the bridge.  Thru-traffic will keep to the left three lanes.  The work zone will be separated from the roadway with temporary concrete barrier curb. Additional lane closures may be implemented during off peak hours.
