Important Info for Ridley-Lowell Students

Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute, including its New London campus, abruptly closed last week. The following information has been provided by the State Office of Higher Education in an effort to help current students understand their options to transfer to another school or to obtain loan forgiveness or tuition reimbursement. If you were a student at Ridley-Lowell, or know one, please share this information as we work to preserve credits and evaluate transfers to other colleges.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1) I was enrolled at Ridley-Lowell, now it’s closed, what do I do?

  • The Office of Higher Education recommends you access your transcript and save it.
  • You can get your transcript on Ridley-Lowell’s website or through OHE
  • If you want to finish your course of study, OHE has a list of schools where you can potentially transfer: http://www.ctohe.org/HEWeb/POSAList.asp
  • If you can’t or do not want to transfer, see section below regarding loans and payments already made to the college.

2) I already completed my certificate/course with Ridley-Lowell, what now?

  • This should not affect your past coursework or certification received.
  • The Office of Higher Education highly recommends you access your transcript and save it.
  • You can get your transcript on Ridley-Lowell’s website or through OHE.

3) I have loans or paid tuition out of my pocket, what do I do?

  • If you completed your course work or certification, you should still continue paying off your loans.
  • If you can’t or do not want to transfer and took out loans, you should be getting a letter soon explaining that your school closed. You can then use that letter and apply to get your loans discharged (forgiven) through the federal government at: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/closed-school
