Sen. Michael McLachlan gets into the spirit of Dr. Seuss as he reads The Cat in the Hat to the students of South Street Elementary School

Danbury – State Senator Michael McLachlan (R-24) recently joined other Danbury officials who read to city children as part of Jericho Partnership’s Reading Buddy Program. He read The Cat in the Hat to the students of South Street Elementary School where he attended kindergarten.

“Jericho Partnership’s City Serve initiative seeks to improve children’s educational foundation and improve city graduation rates,” Sen. McLachlan said. “Reading is one of the foundations for a successful education and studies show that reading to children helps establish that foundation. One of the greatest ways to spend quality time with a child is to read to them. It’s also fun to revisit the school of my childhood and share one of my favorite Doctor Seuss stories with the children.”

Sen. McLachlan represents the communities of Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, and Sherman.
