Statement on CT Democrats’ Legislative Agenda Press Conference

Senate Republican President Pro Tempore Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement in response to a press conference held by Democrat state lawmakers today regarding their legislative agenda.

“Yesterday, Connecticut’s Democrat governor proposed increasing taxes on low and middle income families. He proposed hurting health care for disabled individuals and seniors. He proposed cuts to education, taxes on nonprescription drugs, and increased burdens on elderly individuals. And today, without saying how they are going to pay for any of it, Democrat lawmakers are laying out proposals for completely new state expenses. Our state is facing a budget deficit and confronting serious cuts that would hurt some of the most vulnerable individuals. How are Democrats seriously suggesting the state take on new expenses when we are struggling to provide even core services? This is nothing more than political rhetoric preparing for the 2018 elections.”
